For a jump start on the bean season broad beans are the way to go. These beans prefer to be planted in time with your spring peas or as soon as the ground can be worked. Pods are 7 – 12 inches long and fill in from the bottom of the plant up so make sure to harvest from the ground up. With a sweeter flavor and a meatier texture than lima beans they can be a good substitute in any recipe. Plants grow to about 2.5 ft. tall and take about 75 days to harvest. This seed has been treated to help control fungus and insects.
